In a groundbreaking decision today, President Bola Tinibu and the Federal Executive Council (FEC) scrapped the Niger Delta Ministry and the Ministry of Sports Development.
In their place, a new Ministry of Regional Development will oversee all regional development commissions, including the Niger Delta Development Commission, North West Development Commission, South West Development Commission, and North East Development Commission.
Additionally, the National Sports Commission will now assume the responsibilities of the Ministry of Sports, signaling a shift in sports administration.
In a further move, the FEC approved the merger of the Ministry of Tourism with the Ministry of Culture and Creative Economy.
These sweeping reforms were announced during today’s pivotal FEC meeting in Abuja, as part of Tinibu’s push for streamlined governance.
