President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved a fresh wave of strategic appointments, naming Senator Dr. Ibrahim Ida as Chairman of the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) and nominating seven new Federal Commissioners for the National Population Commission (NPC).
The move, seen as part of efforts to strengthen critical institutions, places Dr. Ida at the helm of the CAC, the agency responsible for regulating companies and business registrations in Nigeria.
In the same breath, the President forwarded the names of seven nominees to serve as Federal Commissioners in the NPC, drawing representation from across the country.
Those nominated include: Kolawole Oladipupo Alabi (Ekiti), Nasiru Mu’azu (Zamfara), Usman Abubakar Tuggar (Bauchi), Dr. Isaka Alada Yahaya (Kwara), Prof. Sadiq Isah Radda (Katsina), Suleiman Umar (Jigawa), and Hon. Chiso Abdullahi Dattijo (Sokoto).
The appointments are expected to bolster the operational capacity of both the CAC and NPC, especially at a time when accurate population data and efficient corporate regulation remain central to Nigeria’s economic planning and governance.
Political observers say the inclusion of technocrats and experienced public figures reflects a deliberate attempt by the Tinubu administration to reposition key agencies for improved service delivery.
The nominations for NPC commissioners are subject to confirmation by the Senate, in line with constitutional provisions.
With this latest shake-up, the Presidency signals renewed focus on institutional efficiency, national data management, and economic coordination.
