President Tinibu has ordered an all-out security cordon across the vast forests of Kwara State, following a disturbing spike in kidnappings and terrorist activities in recent days.
In a decisive directive issued on Tuesday, the President instructed the Nigerian Air Force to expand round-the-clock aerial surveillance into the innermost parts of the forests, where intelligence suggests armed groups are hiding. Air assets are to maintain 24-hour monitoring and establish real-time links with ground troops already positioned in strategic locations.
The order, officials said, also extends to the Kebbi and Niger States axis, where several victims are expected to be rescued as operations intensify.
Security sources described the move as one of the most aggressive aerial-security responses in recent months, signaling the President’s resolve to break the stronghold of criminal elements operating across the region’s forest corridors.
Meanwhile, communities in affected areas have been urged to report strange movements, unfamiliar faces, and suspicious activities to security agencies without delay. Authorities stressed that timely information from locals will be pivotal to the success of the expanded operation.
The Presidency reaffirmed that restoring safety and stability remains a top priority—“no matter how deep into the forests the terrorists may hide.”
