President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Thursday participated in an Extraordinary Virtual Summit of the ECOWAS Authority of Heads of State and Government, convened to address the unfolding political crisis in Guinea-Bissau.
Connecting via Zoom from Abuja, President Tinubu joined his West African counterparts in an urgent deliberation to assess the situation, review reports from the ECOWAS fact-finding mission, and consider collective steps to safeguard democratic stability in the country.
The emergency summit comes amid rising tension in Guinea-Bissau following recent political upheavals that have drawn regional concern. ECOWAS leaders are expected to push for restraint, constitutional order, and renewed dialogue among all political actors.
As a key figure in regional diplomacy and a frontline voice in the defence of democracy, President Tinubu reaffirmed Nigeria’s commitment to working with ECOWAS to prevent instability from spreading and to support peaceful solutions.
