President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has applauded Yobe State Governor Mai Mala Buni for launching a bold agricultural empowerment initiative aimed at driving food sufficiency and boosting rural livelihoods.
Represented by his Senior Special Assistant on Political and Other Matters, Alhaji Ibrahim Kabiru Masari, the President declared the programme in line with the Renewed Hope Agenda, describing it as a model for other states.
“This is the kind of vision Nigeria needs at this critical moment,” Masari said at the official launch in Damaturu. “President Tinubu is solidly behind initiatives like this and assures Yobe State of the Federal Government’s full support in strengthening agricultural productivity.”
Governor Buni announced a sweeping distribution of farm machinery and inputs, including 40 tractors, 1,961 power tillers, 1,250 planters, 553 threshers, over 3,000 solar pumps, as well as fertilizers, certified seeds, cassava stems, agrochemicals, and over 80 mobility aids (tricycles and motorcycles).
In a farmer-friendly move, Buni directed free distribution of the equipment and 50% fertilizer subsidy for genuine farmers, reinforcing his administration’s commitment to agriculture-led economic recovery.
Last year, Yobe State had already distributed 100 tractors and a range of mechanized tools and inputs, solidifying its status as one of the most agriculturally proactive states in northern Nigeria.
The event marks another milestone in Yobe’s journey towards transforming agriculture from subsistence to sustainability—under the renewed hope of prosperity for all.
