President Bola Tinubu has approved a massive N80 billion for the immediate reconstruction and expansion of the Alau Dam in Borno State. This strategic intervention aims to boost water supply, enhance irrigation, and strengthen food security in the region.
The dam, which serves as a critical water source for Maiduguri and surrounding areas, has suffered years of degradation due to insurgency and neglect. With this approval, the Federal Government is set to transform the infrastructure, improving access to clean water and supporting agricultural activities.
Stakeholders in Borno have lauded the move, describing it as a major step toward revitalizing the state’s economy and livelihoods. The reconstruction is expected to commence immediately, marking a new chapter in Borno’s infrastructural recovery.
