TIANI SLAMS MACRON, DECLARES NIGER’S “UNLIMITED DETERMINATION” TO DEFEND SAHEL CONFEDERATION

Borno State Government

Niger’s President, Gen. Abdourahamane Tiani, has issued one of his strongest warnings yet to France, declaring that the Sahel alliance will not bow to external pressure or destabilization attempts.

“Our determination is unlimited; if Emmanuel Macron doesn’t know that, let him know,” Tiani said in a fiery statement that underscored rising geopolitical tensions between the Sahel Confederation and its former colonial power.

Tiani accused France of repeatedly plotting to undermine Niger and other members of the Alliance of Sahel States (AES)—Mali and Burkina Faso—but insisted that such efforts have failed and will continue to fail.

“Their plans to destabilize Niger and the ESA countries have failed, and they will always fail,” he said. “We are determined and committed to protecting our confederation in the name of dignity and survival.”

The comments come as the three Sahel nations deepen political, military, and economic coordination under their new confederation, a move that has reshaped regional alliances and sharpened diplomatic friction with Paris.

With Tiani’s latest remarks, the Sahel bloc appears poised to continue carving a new path—one defined by defiance, sovereignty, and a shared sense of destiny.
