The update is contained in a statement by the British High Commission in Nigeria. It says the visitor visa applications are put on hold pending the lifting of the restrictions due to the Omicron variant of the COVID19
The visa categories include tourism, visiting family and friends, short term business activities, academic programmes and medical visa
For those who already have UK visitors visa, the statement reiterates that they will not be granted entry into England. Separate entry guidelines however exist for Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland
The statement says only applicants with very compelling and compassionate circumstances will have their visa applications considered and permitted entry into England from the red list countries
For those who already have their visa applications submitted, the statement advises such applicants to wait until the restriction is lifted otherwise they may request for discontinuance of their application.
