A 17-year-old boy, identified as Auwalu Dahiru, has confessed to gouging out the eyes of his seven-year-old sister, Rukayya, after being arrested by the Bauchi State Police Command.
According to Albarka Radio Bauchi, the suspect admitted to committing the horrific act and narrated how it happened.
Dahiru revealed that he held his younger sister with one hand and used the other to remove both of her eyes, following the instructions of a man known as Balu, who allegedly taught him how to carry out the act.
He further stated that another man, Rabe, had advised him to use a razor blade, but since he had none, he resorted to using his bare hands.
The teenager confessed that when he saw blood gushing from Rukayya’s eyes, fear gripped him, and he fled, leaving her crying in pain. He added that he was unable to kill her as he did to another child whose eyes he had previously removed and thrown into a well.
The Bauchi State Police Command has reportedly launched an investigation into the shocking incident.
