Takai Family Turns to Public for Help After Hospitals Fail to Assist

A family in Takai is appealing for urgent help to save a man who has been bedridden for over a year following a severe accident. The brother, who suffered the injury, requires surgery that costs 2 million naira, an amount the family cannot afford despite exhausting all their savings and resources.

“In the course of this struggle, my older brother suffered a severe accident that left him bedridden for more than a year. We did everything possible to care for him, visiting multiple hospitals, exhausting our resources, and spending all our savings,” He said.

The family shared their plight on Facebook yesterday, describing the struggles they faced visiting multiple hospitals and seeking support from local leaders, but receiving little to no assistance. They also recounted facing indifference from hospital authorities, which forced them to rely entirely on public goodwill.

“Even at Takai Hospital, we were almost turned away, with officials claiming we had to wait for a visit from Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf — yet this has not materialized, despite the governor’s known concern for citizens in distress,” He added.

Following the post, sympathetic Nigerians have begun contributing. As of today, the family has gathered 90,000 naira, with donations ranging from 100, 2,000, 5,000, to even 20,000 naira. They expressed heartfelt gratitude to everyone who has shown mercy and support so far.

The family is still seeking additional help to meet the full cost of the surgery. Donations can be sent via Opay to Khamisu Musa Hussain at the following account number: 9035871533.

The story has resonated widely on social media, with many calling on fellow citizens to extend a helping hand to ensure the man receives the urgent care he needs.
