SWIT Hosts Tax Debate for Kano Girls’ Schools

The Society of Women in Taxation, Nigeria(SWIT) has organized a tax debate competition among girls’ secondary schools in Kano, Nigeria.

The event, which drew participants from schools across the three senatorial zones, aimed to promote tax awareness, financial literacy, and critical thinking among young girls.

In her welcome address, Hannatu Jibril, Chair of the Debate Committee, encouraged participants to engage in respectful and informed discussions.

The Kano state coordinator society of Women in Taxation Haj.Maryam Yahaya Fagge emphasized the importance of educating children about taxes to ensure sustainability and continuity.

The debate topic, “Increase in Value Added Tax: Beneficial to the Economy,” sparked lively discussions and insightful arguments from the participants.

The event provided a platform for the students to develop their public speaking, research, and critical thinking skills.

By promoting tax literacy and financial education, the Society of Women in Taxation aims to empower young girls to become informed and active citizens, capable of contributing to Nigeria’s economic development.

The event held at GGC (WTC) KANO, with following schools in attendance,GGSS Dakata,GGC Kano,GGSS Bunkure,GGSS Wudil,GGSS Gwarzo and GGSS Zakirai among others,where GGSS Dakata emerges the winner from supporting side while from the opposing side the winner is GGC (WTC) Kano
