In a move that has set political circles buzzing, former President Olusegun Obasanjo on Monday paid a low-key visit to former military president Ibrahim Babangida at his famed hilltop residence in Minna.
Sources said Obasanjo arrived discreetly and proceeded straight into a closed-door meeting with Babangida, where both elder statesmen held private discussions for about 30 minutes—far from cameras and public scrutiny.
Although details of the meeting were not disclosed, the timing of the visit has fuelled widespread speculation about consultations on the state of the nation, amid Nigeria’s ongoing political and economic challenges.
Shortly after the meeting, Obasanjo departed the hilltop residence and headed to the airport, maintaining the hush that surrounded the visit.
