In a powerful show of commitment to education and youth empowerment, Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Tajudeen Abbas, has announced the disbursement of a massive ₦5 billion scholarship fund to 30,000 students across the North-West geopolitical zone.

Just days after empowering his constituents with 117 vehicles, 200 tricycles, and 1,000 motorcycles, Abbas took to his official X account on Friday to celebrate yet another milestone in his public service journey.

“From Jigawa to Zamfara, Kaduna to Kebbi, Sokoto to Kano and Katsina, these scholarships—ranging from ₦200,000 to ₦800,000—are not just financial aid; they are investments in dreams,” he wrote. “This is what public service should feel like—impactful and transformational.”

The disbursement, which took place at the newly inaugurated Federal University of Education in Zaria, was graced by prominent personalities, including representatives of Governor Uba Sani of Kaduna State. However, Abbas emphasized that the true VIPs were the students themselves.

Focused on critical fields such as Medicine, Engineering, Law, and Technology, the scholarships are part of Speaker Abbas’s broader education mission, which includes sponsoring over 8,000 students for WAEC, NECO, and JAMB exams, and spearheading an ₦80 billion Education Village project in Zaria.

In a touching reveal, the Speaker also announced plans for a state-of-the-art orphanage in Zaria, describing it as a “sanctuary of love, education, and care” for vulnerable children.

“This is my solemn promise: I will never stop working for the Nigerian child,” Abbas affirmed, expressing gratitude to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Governor Uba Sani for their support.

The initiative has been widely praised as a beacon of hope in a region striving for transformation through education.
