Commuters on the Keffi-Abuja expressway were left stranded on Monday as military officers barricaded the highway, conducting a stop-and-search operation.
The unexpected roadblock at Sani Abacha Barracks, near the AYA roundabout, caused a gridlock extending over 12 kilometers to Nyanya Bridge.
With no prior warning, civil servants and traders from Nyanya, Karu, Maraba, and Masaka were forced to return home after hours of standstill.
This military action comes just 72 hours before a planned nationwide protest on August 1 against the rising cost of living and economic hardship in Nigeria.
