In a continued efforts to put an end to water inadequacy in the state capital and environs sokoto government has directed immediate refurbishing of all existing water projects across the state
The state deputy governor alhaji Idris Gobir disclosed this to press men while on an inspection tour of some vital water sites in the state.
Idris Gobir who was accompanied by the State Secretary to government alhaji Muhammad Bello Sifawa, chief of staff Alhaji Aminu Dikko, the commissioner water ministry Alhaji Yusuf Mohammad Maccido and other top most government official visited the sokoto Rima Raw water supply.
At the Rima Raw water scheme, the largest water supply, gave directives for immediate expansion of the scheme to allow for more water supply.
It could be recalled that water supply shortage within the state capital and environs resulted to people out cry for help by the government while as at the time of filling this report a jerry can of 25 litres of water was sold for 100 naira as against 30 naira and 50 naira and in some parts of the state capital #150 per litre of 25 jerican water.
Meanwhile, the less privileged ones are now at a dagger drawn with “mairuwas”, local water vendors over high cost of water supply in the capital.
Some concerned citizens who spoke to ABC News expressed deep regrets for water shortage in the state capital and therefore call on the state government to construct more solar boreholes water for easy water supply to the people of the state.
