In a solemn display of national unity and gratitude, Kashim Shettima on Friday joined Muslim faithful at the National Mosque, Abuja, for the Juma’at Service marking the 2026 Armed Forces Remembrance Day.
The Vice President bowed his head in prayer for Nigeria’s fallen heroes — men and women who paid the ultimate price in defence of the nation’s sovereignty, peace, and democracy.
Also in attendance was former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, alongside Deputy Chief of Staff to the President, Ibrahim Hassan Hadejia, the Service Chiefs, senior security commanders, and other top public officials.
The special prayer session, held at the National Mosque, formed part of nationwide activities to honour members of the Armed Forces who lost their lives in active service, as well as veterans who continue to bear the scars of battle.
Observers described the gathering as deeply symbolic, reflecting bipartisan respect for the military and a shared commitment to national remembrance beyond political divides.
As prayers echoed through the mosque, the message was clear: Nigeria remembers, Nigeria honours, and Nigeria remains indebted to its fallen heroes whose sacrifices continue to secure the nation’s future.
