Former Kaduna Senator Shehu Sani has cautioned the government against unilaterally scrapping Nigeria’s 6-3-3-4 education system without broad consultations. In a statement on his X account, Sani urged authorities to engage key stakeholders—including teachers’ unions, students’ bodies, education experts, school administrators, parents’ associations, academics, and examination bodies—before making any drastic policy shifts.
He further called on the National Assembly to hold a public debate on the matter, emphasizing that education reform should be guided by informed opinions rather than executive fiat.
Sani’s remarks come amid speculations that the government may introduce a new structure to address longstanding challenges in the education sector.
