Shanga Bloodshed: Kebbi Police Launch Statewide Offensive, Recover AK-47 Rifles

The Kebbi State Police Command has launched a sweeping security offensive across the state following the deadly attacks in Shanga Local Government Area that left dozens dead.

Police spokesperson, Bashir Usman, said the operation—ordered in line with directives of the Inspector-General—targets bandits and violent criminals in forests, border communities and remote settlements.

The Command confirmed that coordinated assaults on villages including Gebe, Kalkami, Kawara and Dabe resulted in 44 casualties, prompting massive deployment of security forces and restoration of relative calm.

In a major breakthrough, operatives recovered two AK-47 rifles along the Illo–Kamba axis, underscoring the impact of intelligence-led operations.

Commissioner of Police, Umar Hadejia, urged residents to stay alert and support security agencies with credible information as clearance operations intensify across the state.
