In a significant breakthrough against arms trafficking, security forces in Isa Local Government Area of Sokoto State have arrested a notorious arms dealer, Hamza Suruddubu, known for supplying weapons to terror groups in the region.
Intelligence sources confirmed to Zagazola Makama that Suruddubu, a key figure in Eastern Sokoto’s illicit arms trade, has long facilitated the movement of deadly weapons from Zamfara State to bandit strongholds. He is suspected of arming notorious criminals, including Bello Turji, Boka, and Halilu Buzu.
Beyond arms trafficking, investigations suggest Suruddubu played a crucial role in securing logistics—ranging from food supplies to motorcycles—for the criminal syndicates. Security operatives are also probing allegations of complicity among certain officers within Shinkafi and Isa LGAs in sustaining the illegal arms trade.
Community leaders and security stakeholders are calling for a thorough probe into Suruddubu’s network to dismantle the arms smuggling chain between Isa and Sabon Birni.
