In a decisive move to ensure peace and order, the Commissioner of Police in Akwa Ibom State, CP Baba Mohammed Azare has imposed a total restriction of movement in Unyenghe, Mbo Local Government Area, ahead of the upcoming Youth Election scheduled for Thursday, July 24, 2025.
The lockdown, which will last from dawn to dusk, is aimed at preventing any breach of peace during the electoral process. The police have warned that non-indigenes and suspected troublemakers must steer clear of the community or risk arrest.
“This is a proactive measure to forestall any threat to public safety. Anyone found violating the restriction will be treated as a violent disruptor,” the police stated.
The directive, announced through Police Public Relations Officer DSP Timfon John, underscores the Command’s zero-tolerance policy for electoral violence and reinforces its commitment to safe democratic exercises.
Residents and stakeholders are urged to cooperate fully with security operatives to ensure a peaceful election in Unyenghe.
