The Sector 4 Unit of the National Border Drill Operations, covering North-Western Nigeria has intercepted contraband with Duty Paid Value of about seven hundred million naira.
Coordinator of the Drill, Comptroller Gregory Itotoh who disclosed this to Newsmen said the interception was made between January and March 14th, 2022.
Comptroller Gregory Itotoh said the contraband intercepted include, 1,529 bags of foreign rice of 50kg each, 134 bundles of New textile materials, 211 bales of second clothes and 760 cartons of spaghetti.
Other smuggled items seized are 1,161 pieces of Donkey skin, 238 jerrycans of vegetable oil of 25litres each, 43 cartons of unregistered pharmaceuticals of different types, 4,725 litres of Premium Motor Spirit as well as 6 imported cars of different types.
Comptroller Gregory Itotoh disclosed thar operatives of the Drill refused 27 persons illegal entry into the country, facilitate the return of 85 illegal migrants back to Niger Republic, repatriated 16 persons to Niger Republic and received 76 other migrants repatriated to Nigeria.
He said 21 victims of human trafficking were rescued and brought to the headquarters of the North -West Unit of the National Border Drill Operations in Katsina who were subsequently handed over to Jibia Special Command of the Nigeria Immigration Service.
