A youth group within the Social Democratic Party SDP has strongly rejected the defection of former Kaduna State Governor, Mallam Nasir El-Rufai, labeling him “unfit and morally unqualified” to join their party. The group also accused El-Rufai of plotting to take over the SDP for his political ambitions.
In a statement released on Monday, the youth wing warned party leaders against admitting El-Rufai, citing his past governance style and alleged controversial decisions. “We cannot allow someone with a history of divisive politics and governance failures to infiltrate our ranks,” the statement read.
The rejection comes amid speculations that El-Rufai is seeking a new political platform after his fallout with the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC). However, the SDP youth group vowed to resist any attempt to impose him on the party, insisting that the SDP stands for justice, equity, and good governance.
As the 2027 elections draw closer, El-Rufai’s political future remains uncertain, with growing opposition to his realignment efforts.
