The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has once again reinforced its steadfast position on the establishment of an independent Palestinian state, declaring it as a non-negotiable principle in its foreign policy.
In a statement released by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Saudi Arabia affirmed that its stance remains firm and unwavering, as reiterated by His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Crown Prince and Prime Minister. He made this declaration during his address at the opening of the first session of the ninth term of the Shura Council on September 18, 2024.
The Crown Prince emphasized that Saudi Arabia will continue its relentless efforts to establish a sovereign Palestinian state with East Jerusalem as its capital. He made it clear that diplomatic relations with Israel will not be established unless this fundamental condition is met.
His Royal Highness reaffirmed this stance again at the extraordinary Arab-Islamic Summit held in Riyadh on November 11, 2024, calling for an end to Israeli occupation and advocating for a Palestinian state based on the 1967 borders. He also urged more peace-loving nations to formally recognize the State of Palestine and support its bid for full United Nations membership.
Saudi Arabia categorically rejected any attempts to undermine the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people, including Israeli settlement expansions, land annexations, or forced displacements. The Kingdom called on the international community to take immediate action to alleviate the severe humanitarian crisis in Palestine and uphold Palestinian sovereignty.
“The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s position is not open to negotiation or compromise,” the statement declared, emphasizing that a just and lasting peace cannot be achieved without recognizing Palestinian rights in accordance with international resolutions. Saudi authorities also reaffirmed that this position has been consistently communicated to both past and present U.S. administrations.
With this strong declaration, Saudi Arabia continues to lead diplomatic efforts in advocating for Palestinian self-determination, ensuring that the world remains focused on achieving a fair and just resolution to the long-standing conflict.
