SALLAH CLASH TURNS DEADLY: Police Confirm Casualties in Alwasa Village

Borno State Government

Tension erupted in Alwasa Village, Kebbi State, as the Kebbi State Police Command confirmed casualties following a violent communal clash that disrupted Sallah celebrations.

Police spokesman, SP Bashir Usman, disclosed that the incident began as a confrontation between youths, leaving several injured.

One of the victims later died while receiving treatment at the General Hospital, Argungu, sparking a reprisal attack that led to further fatalities.

He, however, assured that calm has been restored after swift deployment of police and reinforcement teams, who remain on ground to maintain law and order and prevent any escalation.

Confirming ongoing action, the Commissioner of Police, Umar Mohammed Hadejia, strongly condemned the violence, warning that perpetrators will face the full weight of the law.

The command has launched a full-scale investigation to track down those responsible, while urging residents to remain peaceful, avoid spreading rumours, and shun reprisals.

Authorities say security has been tightened in the area, even as the state moves to prevent a relapse into violence.
