In a symbolic blend of tradition and state security, the Katsina State Commandant of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Commandant AD Moriki, on Monday received royal blessings from His Royal Highness, the Emir of Katsina, Alhaji (Dr.) Abdulmumini Kabir Usman, CFR, LLD, during a courtesy visit to the Emir’s Palace at Kofar Soro, Katsina.
The visit, the first since Commandant Moriki assumed duty as substantive State Commandant, was aimed at formally introducing himself, paying homage, and seeking the guidance, prayers and support of the revered monarch as the Corps intensifies efforts to strengthen safety and security across Katsina State.
Commandant Moriki conveyed the warm regards of the Commandant General, Ahmed Abubakar Audi, mni, OFR, reaffirming the Corps’ commitment to the national vision of decisively tackling insecurity. He stressed that partnership with traditional institutions remains critical to intelligence gathering, community trust and sustainable peace.
The NSCDC boss also used the occasion to commiserate with the Emirate over the recent fire incident that affected part of the palace, and to express condolences over the passing of two prominent district heads — the Bebejin Katsina, District Head of Kusada, and the Gabasawan Katsina, District Head of Dutsi — praying that Almighty Allah grants them Jannatul Firdaus.
Welcoming the delegation, the Emir of Katsina expressed delight at the visit and congratulated Commandant Moriki on his appointment. He underscored the urgency of robust security collaboration, especially in the face of ongoing challenges in the North-West, commending the NSCDC for its visible contributions to public safety in the state.
The Royal Father urged the Commandant to sustain and build upon the Corps’ achievements, emphasizing intelligence-driven operations and synergy among formal and non-formal security actors. He assured the NSCDC of the Emirate’s continued cooperation and offered prayers for wisdom, success and divine guidance.
