Remodeling Of Clinics Project: MLGCA Commissioner Registers Satisfaction, Dissatisfaction

The Supervising Commissioner of the Ministry for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs Alhaji Bishir Tanimu Gambo has registered his satisfaction on one hand and dissatisfaction on the other hand over the actions of some contractors handling the remodeling project of Clinics in some local government areas.

The Commissioner made this known on Wednesday in an interview shortly after he paid an unscheduled visit to assess the level of work on Clinics selected for renovation in Katsina Central Senatorial District.

The Clinics were amongst those selected across 34 LGAs for remodeling as approved by the state Governor Malam Dikko Umar Radda through the Ministry.

The Commissioner so far visited 10 Clinics across 4 LGAs in Katsina Central Senatorial District and out of the number, the renovation work of 8 Clinics where 100% completed.

He equally expressed dismay over the negligence attitude of Contractors entrusted to handling the renovation work of other two respective Clinics.

The Commissioner said for now, the Identity of the affected Conractors will be anonymous, but will be publicly exposed if they failed to redress.

He however instructed the Director Works of the Ministry to immediately invite the affected Contractors handling the renovation work of the two Clinics for discussion.

Alhaji Bishir Tanimu Gambo pointed out that considering the importance put in place on Health Sector by Radda administration, laxity on the part of any Contractor that tried to derail the effort of the administration would not be condone.

On the construction of staff quarters, the level of the work reached 80 to 90%, while Solar Powered Security Lights, provision of hand pumps were already provided and wall fencing work of the 8 out of the 10 Clinics visited was in progress.

The Clinics so far visited include that of Tsauri, Tsanni, Birchi, Turare, Safana, Karofi, Radda, Majen Wayya, Kuraye and Kadandani in Kurfi, Batagarawa, Safana, Dutsinma, Charanchi and Rimi local government areas respectively.

The Commissioner was accompanied by the Ag.Permanent Secretary of the Ministry Alhaji Rabi’u Gide and Director Admin and Supply Alhaji Bello Isah Fago.

Other accompanying Directors from the Ministry include Works, Inspection, Budget and Assistant Director Works.
