In a bold move to tackle hardship and supercharge food production, Nasir Idris has announced that over one million residents will benefit from the free distribution of assorted grains and agricultural inputs across the state.
The Governor made the declaration during a Ramadan Iftar with Special Advisers and Chairmen of Boards and Parastatals at the Government House in Birnin Kebbi, reaffirming his administration’s commitment to people-focused governance.
According to him, the distribution will commence immediately, targeting vulnerable citizens and farmers in all parts of the state.
Items lined up for free distribution include rice, maize, millet, fertilizers, herbicides, power tillers, solar pumps, CNG water pumps and other essential farm inputs aimed at boosting both dry and wet season farming.
Governor Idris stressed that each beneficiary would receive at least one item, describing the intervention as a dual-purpose strategy — cushioning the effects of economic hardship during Ramadan while strengthening long-term food security in Kebbi State.
“This administration believes leadership must directly impact the lives of the people, especially during challenging times,” he said, underscoring his government’s resolve to ensure no household is left behind.
In a related directive, the Governor ordered the Secretary to the State Government to facilitate the prompt payment of outstanding furniture allowances to affected Advisers and Chairmen of Boards and Parastatals, in line with government approval.
Earlier, Chairman of the Kebbi State Advisers’ Forum, Alhaji Zayyanu Shehu Sanka, commended the Governor’s inclusive leadership style and generosity, noting that the large number of appointments reflects confidence in their ability to serve diligently.
Similarly, Prof. Suleiman Khalid Jega, Chairman of the Forum of Heads of Boards and Parastatals, praised the administration’s strides in infrastructure, agriculture and social interventions, describing the achievements as remarkable within a short time in office.
With this sweeping relief and agricultural support package, the Kebbi Government appears set to combine compassion with productivity — feeding families today while empowering farmers for tomorrow.
