In a compassionate response to the plight of vulnerable women during the holy month of Ramadan, the Bala Wunti Support Organisation (BWSO) has donated 150 bags of rice to widows and divorcees in Unguwar Kur Wayar Makafi quarters of Bauchi metropolis to support their fasting and ease the burden of feeding their families.

The intervention followed media reports on the organisation’s ongoing statewide rice distribution exercise, as well as a heartfelt video circulated online in which the group appealed to Dr Bala Wunti for assistance with food items to enable them to observe the Ramadan fast with dignity.

According to a press release issued by the Chief Communication Officer of BWSO, Abubakar Al-Sadique, Dr Wunti was deeply moved by the appeal of the women after seeing the video on social media and directed that support be extended to them.

Presenting the bags of rice on behalf of BWSO, the State Coordinator, Alhaji Sha’abdin Bello Zalanga, said the gesture was in response to Dr Wunti’s concerns about the condition of the women.

“Dr Wunti was concerned about the condition of these women and directed that this modest support be extended to them because the situation requires intervention, especially during this sacred period when compassion and charity are most needed,” Zalanga said.

He added that the gesture reflects Dr Wunti’s enduring commitment to supporting vulnerable members of society and ensuring that the less privileged are not left behind during difficult times.

Speaking on behalf of the beneficiaries, the group’s leader, Maryam Baban Sarki, expressed heartfelt appreciation to BWSO and Dr Wunti for their timely intervention.

“We are sincerely grateful for this act of kindness. At a time when many of us are struggling to provide meals for our families during Ramadan, this support has brought relief and hope to our homes,” she said.

Maryam also conveyed the group’s prayers and goodwill to Dr Wunti, pledging their support for his aspiration to serve the people of Bauchi State at a higher level.
