No fewer than 1,000 orphans and widows in Kangiwa town of Kebbi State have received Ramadan and Sallah support packages from the NASARA Foundation in a humanitarian gesture aimed at spreading joy during the holy month.
The initiative, spearheaded by the foundation’s founder and Kebbi State First Lady, Zainab Nasare Nasir Idris, provided Sallah clothes to orphans and bags of rice to widows to enable them celebrate the forthcoming Eid festivities with dignity and happiness.
This was disclosed in a statement issued to journalists in Birnin Kebbi by the Chief Press Secretary to the First Lady, Khadijat Saidu.
According to the statement, the outreach formed part of the foundation’s Ramadan humanitarian activities designed to uplift vulnerable members of society and ensure that they are not left out during the festive season.
“The gesture is aimed at bringing smiles to the faces of orphans and widows in Kangiwa town and ensuring they experience the joy and blessings of the Sallah celebration,” the statement said.
The distribution exercise was carried out by a delegation of the foundation led by its State Coordinator, Alhaji Abdulrasheed Bala, who conveyed a goodwill message from the First Lady to the beneficiaries and members of the community.
Bala said the initiative reflects the First Lady’s commitment to compassion, generosity and social support for the less privileged, particularly during significant religious seasons such as Ramadan.
He explained that the NASARA Foundation has consistently championed humanitarian interventions across Kebbi State, targeting vulnerable groups including widows, orphans and disadvantaged families.
According to him, the Ramadan and Sallah packages are part of ongoing efforts by the foundation to strengthen community solidarity and ensure that the spirit of giving remains alive among citizens.
“The First Lady believes that everyone deserves to celebrate Sallah with joy, regardless of their circumstances. This initiative is therefore meant to support those who may not have the means to fully participate in the celebrations,” Bala said.
He further noted that the foundation would continue to expand its humanitarian outreach programmes in different communities across the state.
The beneficiaries, many of whom were visibly emotional, expressed appreciation to Almighty God and the founder of the foundation for the thoughtful intervention.
Some of the widows and guardians of the orphaned children described the assistance as timely, noting that it would significantly ease the burden of preparing for the Sallah celebration.
They prayed for continued blessings, strength and success for the First Lady and the NASARA Foundation team for their kindness and generosity toward the less privileged.
Community leaders in Kangiwa also commended the initiative, describing it as a reflection of responsive leadership and compassion toward vulnerable groups in society.
NASARA Foundation has in recent times intensified humanitarian interventions across Kebbi State, providing relief materials, empowerment programmes and social support aimed at improving the lives of disadvantaged residents.
Observers say such initiatives not only provide immediate relief but also strengthen the culture of charity and communal support, especially during the spiritually significant period of Ramadan.
