Pastor Dio Idon was killed by an unforgiving Christian mob in Southern Kaduna after being accused of witchcraft following the death of his brother, who had suffered a prolonged illness. The incident occurred on Sunday, 4 January 2026, in the Kasuwan Magani area of Kaduna State.
According to reports, members of the community accused Pastor Idon of being responsible for his brother’s death through alleged witchcraft. The situation quickly escalated as a mob attacked him, lynched him, and burned his remains to ashes.
The horrific incident occurred on Sunday, 4 January 2026. Until his death, he was the pastor of ECWA Ungwa Shaawa LC, Kasuwan Magani DCC, Kaduna State.
The news did not go viral because it involved radical Christians attacking a pastor-unlike the case of Deborah Yakubu, who was lynched in Sokoto by angry Muslim youths over alleged blasphemy some time ago.
Let us imagine the pastor had been killed by Fulani herders or another Muslim group:
1 Everyone in the country would have heard about it.
2. Mainstream media would have headlined it as “Pastor killed by Fulani jihadists” or “Pastor killed by radical Islamists,” and similar labels.
3. The Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) would have issued a press release condemning Muslims or Fulanis.
4. Those promoting the narrative of Christian genocide in Nigeria would have seized it as justification.
5. Internal collaborators would have forwarded the news to America, the self-proclaimed Christian messiah of Nigeria.
