Radda Wins 2025 Best Governor Award

Katsina State Governor, Malam Dikko Umar Radda, has been honoured with the prestigious “Best Performing Governor of the Year 2025” award by Aso Multimedia.

The award ceremony held in Abuja on June 13, 2025 recognizes Governor Radda’s outstanding leadership, transformational governance, and remarkable strides in infrastructural development, education, and economic empowerment across Katsina State.

The Aso Prestigious Award stated that thes honour equally acknowledges the Governor unwavering commitment to good governance, youth empowerment, and sustainable development, which has set a benchmark for excellence while significantly improving the lives of Katsina citizens.

The Governor was represented by the Honourable Commissioner for Women Affairs, Hajiga Hadiza Yar’adua and the State Director General of Protocol, Alhaji Umar Bishir Ibrahim.

Delivering her remarks on behalf of Governor Radda, Hajiya Hadiza highlighted the administration’s groundbreaking achievements across different sectors.

“This award is not merely a plaque or ceremonial title, it is a powerful validation of a leadership style grounded in purpose, compassion, and accountability. It is a tribute to a man whose governance is people-centered, strategy-driven, and impact-focused,” the Commissioner stated while accepting the honour.

Hajiya Hadiza described Governor Radda as “a man of compassion who is fair, but also firm. He believes deeply in teamwork, and he swears by accountability. His decisions are always guided by his faith and by a constant desire to do the right thing.”

The Commissioner also noted the administration’s groundbreaking Community Development Project (CDP), saying it is “the first of its kind in Katsina State. Built on a bottom-up governance model, the CDP empowers rural communities to identify and prioritize their own development needs. This is governance with the people, not just for them.”

“Governor Radda’s commitment to gender equity has yielded remarkable results. The administration has implemented a 30% Affirmative Action Policy for women’s inclusion across political appointments, economic programs, and leadership roles,” the Commissioner revealed.

Hajiya Hadiza further highlighted key women empowerment initiatives under Governor Radda, including N5 billion Women Empowerment Grant Scheme benefiting 7,000 women with direct business capital; N5.7 billion Goat Rearing Initiative reaching 3,610 women across 361 wards; Support for 7,220 widows and vulnerable women with N10,000 cash and staple food items, and the 200 million investment in maternal nutrition and reproductive health.

On healthcare, the Commissioner explained that the administration has completely overhauled healthcare delivery, rehabilitating and restocking all Primary Healthcare Centers statewide. A state-of-the-art specialist hospital equipped for high-end diagnostics, including MRI and dialysis treatment, is currently under construction – a regional first.

“In agriculture, Governor Radda flagged off the distribution of 40,000 metric tonnes of fertilizer and deployed multi-billion naira irrigation schemes across key areas, benefiting over 4,000 farmers. The construction of a modern tractor assembly plant positions Katsina as a regional hub for mechanized farming,” she said.

The Commissioner further stressed that the education sector has received massive investment through the S-Power Scheme, recruiting over 7,000 new teachers.

“The administration fully funded WAEC, NECO, and NABTEB registration fees for over 54,000 students, ensuring no child is left behind due to financial barriers,” she added.

The Katsina State Community Watch Corps has recruited over 1,500 operatives equipped with 12 Armoured Personnel Carriers, 65 operational vehicles, and 700 motorcycles, significantly reducing bandit attacks across frontline local government areas.

“The establishment of KASEDA with a N5 billion revolving fund demonstrates the Governor’s commitment to empowering young entrepreneurs and MSMEs,” the Commissioner continued.

Hajiya Hadiza also noted major infrastructure projects in Katsina state, including road dualization, construction of over 129 kilometers of rural access roads, and deployment of 40 new buses under a restructured transport authority.

The Commissioner, however, dedicated the award to the resilient women, the hopeful youth, the selfless civil servants, and the everyday people of Katsina State, adding that this success is theirs, as much as it is ours.

The event was attended by notable dignitaries from all walks of life.
