Katsina State Governor, Malam Dikko Umaru Radda, has signed into law the 2025 Supplementary Budget of ₦137 billion, marking another bold step in his administration’s drive to accelerate infrastructure and human capital development across the state.
The signing ceremony, held at the Government House on Tuesday, followed the swift passage of the supplementary appropriation bill by the Katsina State House of Assembly.
The budget, which comprises ₦126.8 billion for capital expenditure and ₦10.2 billion for recurrent spending, is designed to inject fresh momentum into ongoing projects in key sectors including roads, education, healthcare, water supply, and agriculture.
Governor Radda, while commending the legislature for its prompt consideration and passage of the bill, lauded the synergy between the executive and legislative arms, describing it as a reflection of shared vision and commitment to progress.
“I commend the Honourable Speaker, Rt. Hon. Nasir Yahaya Daura, and all members of the Katsina State House of Assembly for their swift legislative action on this critical bill. Your commitment to the development of our state is truly commendable,” the Governor said.
He explained that the supplementary budget became imperative after several Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs) exceeded their initial capital allocations due to the sheer scale and pace of projects being executed across the state.
Governor Radda emphasized that the additional funds would primarily be directed toward completing ongoing capital projects rather than initiating new ones, ensuring that no project is left unfinished.
“This supplementary budget will help us consolidate the gains of our Renewed Hope Agenda in infrastructure, healthcare, education, and agriculture. Every kobo will be spent judiciously and transparently,” he assured.
The Governor reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to transparency, accountability, and fiscal discipline, noting that the supplementary budget aligns with Katsina’s vision of sustainable development and prudent financial management.
In his remarks during the plenary session, House Leader, Hon. Shamsuddeen Abubakar Dabai, praised Governor Radda’s visionary leadership, describing him as “one of the most result-oriented governors in the country.”
He added that the supplementary appropriation came at the perfect time, considering the volume of completed and ongoing projects across the state.
“The supplementary budget reflects the Governor’s proactive approach to governance. It will ensure the timely completion of people-centered projects that are transforming Katsina,” Dabai stated.
Earlier, the supplementary budget was referred to the House Committee on Appropriations, chaired by Hon. Lawal H. Yaro, which carefully reviewed the proposals before presenting its report for final passage.
The signing ceremony was attended by top government officials, including Hon. Ibrahim Dikko Matazu, the Chief Whip of the House, and members of the Appropriations Committee, underscoring the unity and shared purpose between the executive and legislative branches.
With the new ₦137 billion injection, the Radda administration is poised to strengthen its delivery on critical infrastructure, improve service delivery, and reinforce Katsina’s position as one of the most development-driven states in Northern Nigeria.
