— Governor Warns Against Privilege Mentality, Seeks Discipline and Accountability

Katsina State Governor, Malam Dikko Umaru Radda, has ordered immediate reforms in the state’s Hajj operations following the submission of the 2025 Hajj report by Deputy Governor and Amirul Hajj, Malam Faruk Lawal.

Receiving the comprehensive report at Government House, Katsina, Governor Radda directed early preparations for the 2026 exercise, with clearer role definitions, stronger coordination, and strict discipline among officials.

Deputy Governor Faruk Lawal, who led the 2025 delegation, described the Hajj as largely successful, with smooth airlifts and positive feedback from pilgrims, despite minor challenges in accommodation, visa delays, and medical access.

He recommended early hotel reservations near the Haram, better medical facilities, and intensive training for preachers and officials. He also urged tighter coordination between the Pilgrims Welfare Board and sub-committees.

Governor Radda commended the delegation’s performance but expressed concern over recurring issues such as misuse of official vehicles and overlapping responsibilities. He cautioned that membership of the Pilgrims Welfare Board “is not a personal privilege but a service to pilgrims.”

He further directed that no official sponsored by the government should leave Saudi Arabia before the last pilgrim, except in genuine medical emergencies.

The Governor tasked the Secretary to the State Government with implementing actionable recommendations immediately, assuring that his administration would prioritize transparency, accountability, and improved service delivery for the 2026 Hajj.

“Preparations must begin now to ensure a more organized and spiritually fulfilling Hajj next year,” Radda emphasized.
