Katsina is set for a groundbreaking sporting moment as Governor Dikko Radda’s maiden Para-Games Schools Competition kicks off next week, bringing hope and opportunity to athletes with special needs across the state.
The Executive Director of the Katsina State Sports Council, Alhaji Abdullahi Bello Rawayau, announced the takeoff while distributing sporting kits to participating schools, signaling the government’s renewed push for inclusive sports development.
Six institutions, including schools for the blind and deaf in Katsina, Daura, and Malumfashi, alongside para-soccer teams from Government College Katsina and Katsina College, are billed to compete in the two-day event.
Programme consultant, Dr. Zaharaddeen Nasarawa, said the competition would serve as a talent hunt platform, with standout athletes set to represent Katsina at national and international Para-Games.
Commending the initiative, the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Special Sports, LT Hudu Usman, hailed Governor Radda’s commitment to promoting sports for all, describing the event as a bold step toward inclusivity and grassroots excellence.
