Katsina State Governor, Malam Dikko Umaru Radda, on Sunday reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to grassroots empowerment as he flagged off a life-changing programme for 600 beneficiaries in Bindawa Local Government Area.
The initiative, spearheaded by the Council Chairman, Alhaji Badaru Musa Giremawa, saw the distribution of 22 motorcycles, 100 sewing machines, 100 grinding machines, 100 spaghetti-making machines, and 300 butchers’ pans. Each butcher also received a cash grant of ₦50,000 to boost their trade.
Addressing a large crowd at the Bindawa Local Government Secretariat, Governor Radda described empowerment as a vital tool for tackling unemployment and uplifting families. He praised Giremawa’s leadership, noting that the council had become a model of grassroots development.
“My administration will continue to guarantee financial independence for local governments to carry out meaningful projects that directly touch the lives of our people,” the governor assured.
The governor also urged chairmen across the state to practice inclusive governance beyond political lines and called on stakeholders to use their influence to foster peace and unity.
Council Chairman Giremawa revealed that this was the seventh empowerment programme in Bindawa, highlighting earlier interventions and projects. He added that ward councillors, APC leaders, women leaders, and deputies all benefited from the items, while key council officials had been provided with official vehicles.
APC leaders, including Deputy State Chairman Bala Abu Musa, Bindawa Chairman Nura Da’u Bindawa, and Stakeholders’ Chairman Alhaji Isah Lawal Doro, all lauded Governor Radda for spreading development evenly across Katsina State.
The Bindawa programme adds to Governor Radda’s growing record of community-focused initiatives aimed at strengthening livelihoods at the grassroots.
