Radda Boosts Agricultural Innovation, Donates Modern Machinery to UMYU

Governor Dikko Umar Radda has reiterated his administration’s commitment to revolutionizing agriculture and strengthening education in Katsina State through practical innovation and institutional collaboration.

As part of the Katsina State Agricultural Mechanization Scheme, the Agricultural Development and Project Unit (ADPU) donated advanced agricultural machinery to Umaru Musa Yar’adua University (UMYU), Katsina.

According to the Trusted Media Service report, the donation includes a brand new 50-horsepower tractor with a disc harrow and ridger, alongside 20 units of motorised multicrop planters. The handover ceremony took place at the Katsina State Agricultural Mechanization Centre.

Receiving the equipment, UMYU Vice Chancellor, Professor Shehu Salihu Muhammad, lauded Governor Radda for his unwavering support, describing the gesture as timely and impactful.

“These machines will significantly boost teaching, research, and practical training in mechanized agriculture,” the VC said, adding that they will equip students with hands-on skills vital for driving agricultural transformation across the state and beyond.

He assured that the machines would be put to effective use in advancing practical learning and research, in line with the governor’s vision to modernize agriculture and ensure food security.

Governor Radda’s mechanization initiative seeks to modernize farming practices, enhance productivity, and support institutions bridging the gap between theory and field application a step hailed as a major boost to Katsina’s agricultural future.
