In a bold move to position Katsina State at the forefront of Nigeria’s constitutional reform, Governor Malam Dikko Umaru Radda, has approved the formation of a high-level committee tasked with presenting the state’s unified position at the upcoming North West Zonal Public Hearing in Kano.
The public hearing is part of the ongoing national engagement by the Senate Committee on the Review of the 1999 Constitution.
Led by statesman and elder, Waziri (Senator) Ibrahim Muhammad Ida, PhD, CON, the 20-member delegation comprises prominent legal minds, academics, traditional leaders, and top government officials. The team includes Justice Sadiq Abdullahi Mahuta (rtd), Prof. Sadiq Radda of BUK, Prof. Binta Dalhat Dan-Ali of UMYUK, and representatives from the State House of Assembly, Judiciary, NBA, and civil society groups.
Governor Radda charged the committee to conduct extensive consultations and capture the true aspirations of the people of Katsina. He emphasized that the state must speak with one voice on critical national issues and reiterated his administration’s dedication to constitutional reforms anchored on equity, justice, and inclusive development.
“The voice of Katsina must be clear, coherent, and deeply rooted in the collective hopes of our people,” Radda declared.
The zonal hearing for the North West region is scheduled to take place in Kano.
