Borno State Government

— Reaffirms Commitment to Building Skilled Healthcare Workforce

Katsina State Governor, Malam Dikko Umaru Radda, has approved the release of ₦305,510,507.09 for the payment of allowances to 565 indigenous medical students studying in Nigeria and abroad.

The approval, according to the state government, underscores Governor Radda’s dedication to human capital development and his administration’s unwavering focus on education and healthcare — two pillars of his Building Your Future Agenda.

Confirming the development, the General Manager of the Katsina State Hospital Services Management Board (HSMB), Dr. Muhammad Nazir Shehu, said the payment covers both regular allowances and special project support for final-year medical students.

Dr. Shehu noted that the intervention aims to relieve students of financial pressure, allowing them to focus on their academic and clinical training. “This approval by His Excellency is more than a financial intervention — it is a deliberate investment in the future of healthcare in Katsina,” he said.

He added that the initiative aligns with Governor Radda’s vision to produce competent, homegrown medical professionals who will strengthen healthcare delivery across the state.

Since assuming office, Governor Radda has shown a consistent commitment to revitalizing the health sector, from upgrading healthcare infrastructure and expanding rural access to improving the welfare and training of medical personnel.

This latest intervention builds on the administration’s ongoing reforms, including the rehabilitation of health facilities, expansion of therapeutic nutrition centres, and recruitment of skilled professionals — all aimed at creating a resilient and people-centered healthcare system.

The Hospital Services Management Board expressed appreciation to the Governor for his visionary leadership and sustained investment in the health sector, assuring that the approved funds will be disbursed transparently to all qualified beneficiaries.

The Board also urged the students to remain disciplined and committed, emphasizing that their success would reflect the Governor’s confidence in the youth’s potential to drive transformation in the healthcare system.

By prioritizing medical education and empowerment, the Radda administration continues to reaffirm its belief that the strength of society lies in the health, knowledge, and resilience of its people.
