As part of efforts to make residents of the state stable and shun hunger protest, Sokoto State Government has commenced distribution of food items to some of the residents.
The distribution of the items which includes Rice, Maize, Millet and cash, commenced over the weekend with people living in IDPs, with each person received foodstuffs and cash gifts.
It was learnt that other less privileged persons such as orphans, destitutes and Almajiris are expected to benefits from the programmes.
The state government also roll out fertilizers to farmers in the 23 local governments area of the state for wet season farming while another four trucks of the items were at hand for dry season farming.
It is also expected that civil servants and other citizens in the state are expected to benefits from the grains in due course.
In another development, the Religious Leaders in the state have been commended by some elders for the way and manners they conducted and preach peace to the people across the state.
A 72 years old man, mallam Adamu Abdullahi, who was among those who commend the leaders said both the Islamic preachers and Pastors have done creditably well by making their followers most especially youths realized that there are no alternative to peace.
He said that without peace, nothing could be achieveable in any society, therefore called on other preachers in the country to continue preaching peace at all times to the people in order to promote peaceful co-existence.
He further commend the state governor, Ahmed Aliyu, for coming out boldly against protest in Sokoto State .
