Prof Obiora  Bows Out of APC Guber Race in Anambra, Cites “Shocking Inconsistencies”

#Zulum238Projects #Term2 Focus: Education (54 Projects) Zulum's 5th year in office, consolidating on sterling 4 years of the first tenure. “1,195 Projects and Counting.” Series on 238 projects in the first year of the second tenure of Governor Zulum.

Anambra State’s political turf witnessed a dramatic twist as Prof. Obiora Okonkwo, a top contender in the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship primary, has abruptly withdrawn from the race.

In a statement that reverberated through the state’s political circles, Okonkwo cited “alarming irregularities and grave inconsistencies” in the primary election process, raising concerns about transparency and internal party democracy.

“I entered this race to offer credible leadership, but the process has been anything but credible,” Okonkwo lamented.

The professor’s withdrawal leaves a significant gap in the APC lineup, as he was widely seen as a strong contender with grassroots appeal and policy depth. Political observers say his exit may rattle the party’s structure ahead of the 2025 Anambra gubernatorial election.

Meanwhile, APC leadership in the state has yet to issue an official response, but insiders hint at possible internal wrangling over delegate lists and procedural lapses.

Will this spark a wider revolt within the party, or is it a calculated sacrifice to expose the system? Only time will tell.
