A grieving police widow has cried out for justice, accusing her late husband’s family of seizing and selling off his properties just a month after his passing.
The widow, whose name is withheld for privacy, claims her brother-in-law began liquidating assets without consulting her or her children, citing a disputed claim that her husband had divorced her before his death.
Denying the allegations of divorce, the widow explained that they were only separated due to family pressure for him to marry another woman. “Even if we were divorced, the properties still rightfully belong to my children,” she stated.
She further alleged deep-seated tribal prejudice from her in-laws, which she says fueled their hostility toward her and her children.
The matter has now drawn the attention of the Brekete Family, a popular human rights platform, which has pledged to investigate and fight for the children’s rightful inheritance.
Calls for justice resonate as this heart-wrenching case underscores the struggles many widows face in safeguarding their children’s future amidst cultural and familial conflicts.
