The Nigeria Police Force in Akwa Ibom State has commended residents for their unwavering support in the fight against crime, even as it issued a strong warning to criminal elements to steer clear of the state.
In a statement marking the ongoing Police Week, the Commissioner of Police, Baba Mohammed Azare, praised the people of Akwa Ibom State for their cooperation, noting that recent successes in crime prevention and intelligence operations were made possible through timely information and community collaboration.
The Command said the partnership between the police, community leaders, youths, and other stakeholders has significantly enhanced its ability to maintain law and order across the state.
Reaffirming its commitment to public safety, the Police pledged to intensify intelligence-led policing, boost visibility patrols, and sustain proactive strategies aimed at keeping communities secure.
However, in a stern message, the Command declared Akwa Ibom “hostile to crime,” warning perpetrators of cultism, kidnapping, armed robbery, and drug trafficking to either abandon their activities or leave the state immediately.
“There will be zero tolerance for criminality. Offenders will be identified, arrested, and made to face the full weight of the law,” the statement emphasized.
Residents were further urged to remain vigilant and continue supporting security agencies with credible information, stressing that collective effort remains key to sustaining peace.
The Police assured that it remains resolute in its mandate to safeguard lives and property, while working with citizens to build a safer and more secure Akwa Ibom.
