The Nasarawa State Police Command has refuted a social media report that claimed armed bandits attacked a female hostel at the Federal University of Lafia FULafia, Nasarawa State.

The claims also stated that 30 students were reportedly rape while others sustained injuries during the attack.

SP Ramhan Nansel, the spokesman for the Nasarawa Police Command, dismissed the report on Tuesday.

He said, ‘Report on rape of 30 FULafia students is a figment of the writer’s imagination, never happened anywhere in Lafia,’ Nansel told YERWA EXPRESS NEWS, stating that no such incident happened in the state.

Corroborating the police statement, Abubakar Ibrahim, the Information Officer for FULafia, also dismissed the claims.

‘There is no truth to this,’ Ibrahim stated, inviting reporters to visit the community and interact with students to verify the situation.

Ibrahim did confirm a dispute between a student and individuals from the community, which resulted in one person being affected.

He stressed that this incident bears no resemblance to the allegations made in the social media report.
