The Akwa Ibom State Police Command has struck a major blow against the illicit drug trade, arresting four suspects during a late-night raid in Uyo.
Acting on credible intelligence, operatives of the Command stormed several black spots across the metropolis around 10:00PM on Monday, August 18, 2025, in a coordinated crackdown that disrupted ongoing criminal activity.
The suspects — Gideon Patrick Edet, Paul Joseph Effiong, Mfon Cletus Ikpe, and Gideon Edet Etim — were rounded up as officers seized a large cache of substances suspected to be Indian hemp and other illicit drugs.
Police spokesperson, DSP Timfon John, confirmed the arrests, stressing that the Command remains resolute in its fight against drug trafficking and related crimes. He added that investigations are ongoing to uncover the wider network fueling the illegal trade.
The successful raid marks another decisive step by the Akwa Ibom Police Command in its mission to rid the state of crime and safeguard communities.
