Operatives of the Akwa Ibom State Police Command have struck hard in a late-night operation, raiding a suspected criminal hideout and arresting key suspects linked to illegal arms and drug activities.
Acting on credible intelligence, the police stormed Ikot Ide Itak Village in Ikono LGA at about 11:10 p.m. on April 10, 2026, apprehending one Cletus Etim with a locally made pistol and substances believed to be Indian hemp.
In a related breakthrough, officers swooped on Ikot Otok Village in Etim Ekpo LGA earlier the same day, arresting 25-year-old Sunday Abraham, allegedly linked to robbery operations in the area.
A search led to the recovery of a toy pistol and suspected illicit drugs.
Police sources say both suspects are in custody as investigations intensify to track down other members of the criminal network.
Reaffirming its resolve, the Command assured residents of sustained intelligence-led operations to rid the state of crime, urging the public to continue supplying timely information.
