The Katsina State Police Command has recorded a major breakthrough in its renewed onslaught against armed robbery and banditry, with the arrest of an 11-man syndicate of notorious highway robbers operating across major routes in the state.
According to the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Abubakar Sadiq Aliyu, the suspects were responsible for several attacks along the Shaiskawa–Charanchi and Katsina–Kankia–Kano highways, where unsuspecting motorists were robbed of valuables.
Those arrested include Dikko Maaru, Dardau Kabir (24), Muntari Musa (22), Labaran Amadu (22), Usman Maaru (25), Lawal Zubairu (22), Nasiru Sanusi (25), Adamu Kabir (21), Abdullahi Zubairu (35), Muhammad Usman (25), and Sale Shehu (23).
The police said the operation followed credible intelligence that led to the interception of one member of the gang on October 12, 2025, around 10:00 a.m., while attempting to sell stolen items. Swift follow-up action by detectives resulted in the arrest of the other members.
During the raid, officers recovered 80 wristwatches, nine mobile phones, and a knife used during their operations.
Commending the operatives for their swift action, the Commissioner of Police, CP Bello Shehu, psc, fdc, MNIM, praised the synergy between the police and residents, urging continued public support through timely intelligence sharing.
He assured that the suspects would be charged to court upon completion of investigations, reaffirming the Command’s determination to rid Katsina State of criminal elements and ensure the safety of all road users.
“This operation is another clear signal that Katsina will never be a safe haven for criminals,” the CP declared.
