
The Nigerian police have failed to appear before the Independent Investigative Panel on Human Rights Violations by the Defunct SARS and other Units of the Nigerian Police Force sitting in Abuja on Thursday.
The Secretary of the Panel Mr.Hillary Ogbonna while briefing journalists expressed susurprisehat non of the police showed up without reason despite the concerted efforts by the panel to deliver its assigned tasks at a stipulated period given to the Panel.
MMrOgbonna also expressed concern that the unpunctuality attitude of the Police, if it becomes a pattern was capable of bringing setbacks to the mandates of the panel.
The panel stressed that they will continue to engage the police authority and other stakeholders to seek cooperation to ensure that justice is done to the victims of Police brutality.
The Secretary of the panel also said the record of the entire proceedings will be given to the Police without any charge.
The matters were adjourned to the 8th of this month for a definite hearing.
