In a sweeping move aimed at boosting morale and enhancing operational efficiency, the Police Service Commission (PSC) has approved the promotion of 55 senior officers across key ranks in the Nigeria Police Force.
The latest promotion list includes 12 Commissioners of Police (CPs) elevated to the prestigious rank of Assistant Inspectors-General of Police (AIG), 16 Deputy Commissioners of Police (DCPs) promoted to Commissioners, and 27 Assistant Commissioners of Police (ACPs) who have now attained the rank of Deputy Commissioners.
According to a statement from the Commission, the promotions followed a rigorous review process and were based on merit, seniority, and outstanding performance records.
Chairman of the Commission, Dr. Solomon Arase, described the development as “a strategic effort to reposition the Force for optimum performance in line with President Bola Ahmed Tinibu’s Renewed Hope Agenda for security sector reform.”
He added, “This round of promotions comes at a critical time when the nation demands the highest standards of professionalism, integrity, and leadership from its police officers.”
Sources reveal that the newly promoted officers will be deployed to strategic commands across the country, especially in regions battling rising security challenges.
The PSC further emphasized its commitment to fairness, transparency, and the consistent reward of excellence in service.
