The Borno State Police Command has confirmed that calm has been restored across parts of Maiduguri following three suspected suicide bomb incidents that triggered panic in the Borno State capital on Monday.
Security sources disclosed that operatives of the Command’s Explosive Ordnance Disposal unit immediately swung into action after reports of the explosions, launching extensive clearance operations at the affected locations to ensure public safety.
The operations were carried out around key areas of the city, including the University of Maiduguri Teaching Hospital, the busy Maiduguri Monday Market, and the Post Office Flyover.
Authorities said the swift intervention by security personnel prevented further threats and helped stabilize the situation in the affected areas.
In a statement issued by the Police Public Relations Officer of the Command, Nahum Daso Kenneth, the police assured residents that the situation had been brought under control.
According to the statement, the EOD team conducted detailed sweeps and safety checks at the blast locations as part of ongoing security measures aimed at protecting lives and property.
The police spokesman explained that the clearance exercise was necessary to rule out the presence of additional explosive devices and to ensure that residents could safely resume their daily activities.
Residents of Maiduguri were urged to remain calm and avoid panic, while continuing to cooperate with security agencies working to maintain peace in the city.
The Command also appealed to members of the public to remain vigilant and promptly report any suspicious movements or objects in their neighborhoods.
