…Recovered weapons, car, and disguises from suspects in Akwa Ibom raid
A stunning early morning breakthrough, the Akwa Ibom State Police Command has successfully rescued a kidnap victim from his abductors in a swift and coordinated operation, barely hours after the incident took place.
The victim, whose identity has been withheld for security reasons, was abducted from his home in Ikot Abasi around 2:00 a.m. on Monday, July 14, 2025. According to the Commissioner of Police, CP Baba Mohammed Azare, fsi, who briefed journalists at the State Police Headquarters in Ikot Akpan Abia, the prompt response of officers led to the safe recovery of the victim along a road in Southern Annang — unharmed and in stable condition.
“This was a traumatic incident that could have ended tragically, but for the courage and quick action of our operatives,” CP Azare said. “Their bravery reaffirms our commitment that crime will not be allowed to thrive in Akwa Ibom State.”
The Police Commissioner highlighted the critical role of intelligence and rapid coordination, stressing that the operation showcased the effectiveness of proactive policing and teamwork.
Items recovered from the suspects during the rescue include: One Browning pistol, One short machete, A Peugeot 505 vehicle, A single slipper and A Murano car key also A pullover used to cover the victim’s face, One B1 sweater
“These items are vital evidence and also give us insight into the tools of terror used by criminal elements. But today, the message is clear: Akwa Ibom is not a haven for kidnappers,” he declared.
In recognition of their bravery and professionalism, CP Azare announced commendation awards for three officers who played key roles in the rescue operation: SP Kingsley Anosike, CPL Ideba Eleng and PC Nsikak Vincent
“This is a victory not just for one family, but for every law-abiding resident of Akwa Ibom State. We must all continue to stand together against criminality,” Azare said.
He reassured residents of the Command’s unshakable commitment to security, justice, and the protection of human life. “We will not rest. We will pursue every criminal, and justice will be served,” he concluded.
The successful rescue has sparked hope and restored confidence in the capacity of the Police to respond swiftly to emerging threats.
